This 100 year old Californian Bungalow, Araluen Heights, had been added to over its history and was in need of updating to suit the owner’s needs. Unusual in its symmetry, it had many wonderful original features which served to inform the language, details and materials, of the new works. The reconfiguration of the internal stair improved access to the main bedroom and improved the layout of the rooms in the existing roof space. The living room was swapped with the kitchen so that there was a better connection between living and dining and the kitchen could be connected to a walk in pantry and laundry. A concrete hearth anchors the new fireplace in the living room.
