The existing house was a partially converted federation bungalow in Mosman, overlooking Quakers Hat Bay and Long Bay. The brief was to remove the existing non-functional hap-hazard alterations and provide a generous living area and master bedroom which took advantage of the views as well as making better use of the ¾ floor height sub-floor area.
The remnant bungalow detailing gave the house character and warmth. New detailing was designed to blend with the existing but avoided a pastiche copy of it. The double height stairwell space became the transition between old and new.
