The project involved substantial renovations to an existing altered 1950’s water front house resulting in over 500sqm of internal floor space.
The primary additions to the house were the 3-storey wing to the south, entry structures and links with an extended garage building and swimming pool.
There were considerable design, structural and construction restraints to overcome to enable the retention of the existing structure.
The stone wall, landscape and roof all extend either side of the gate reducing the barred entry feel of many security gates. A viewing portal in the wall adjacent breaks up the wall and gives a vista to the courtyard you are about to walk past.
Roof structure needed to cross the skylight. The structure was boxed-in down to the ceiling level, making for a play of light and shadow on the walls.
